Brianna N Hernandez

Thank you for visiting my site. I’m Brianna N Hernandez (she/her). I am a Ph.D. Candidate in the International Relations program at Florida International University and earned my MA in International Studies en-route. In addition to pursuing my Ph.D., I have completed FIU certificates in Women and Gender Studies and in National Security Studies.

I am interested in the role of language as a product and producer of the actors and actions that comprise the international system and constructions of power dynamics. My dissertation work exists at the nexus of environmentalism and feminism.

I believe that if we subvert conventional and problematic binaries, then we can work towards a reality where discourses and policy measures appropriately address the complex realities of agency, vulnerability, security, conflict, peace, and governance.
